Back in 2005 we worked with a range of partners to put in place a network of routes suitable for equestrian use. These trails linked the Pennine Bridleway, the forest routes in Ae and the Pentland Hills. Since then development has been slow.
A new project called ‘Ride Scotland’s Horse Country’ is now being developed to help small businesses make use of these trails and tap into the potential equestrian tourism market.
We have been awarded LEADER funding and the project is being supported by Scottish Enterprise who is also running a planning to succeed group for some of the businesses involved.
We have a small funding gap to fill before the project can start but we hope to be recruiting a project coordinator in October.
