Creative Arts Business Network (CABN)

Southern Uplands Partnership has been hosting CABN’s project work since 2023. We are currently managing delivery of a year-long Creative Scotland Open Fund project – CABN Connect. We have been supporting an incubation process with CABN freelance staff to constitute CABN as an association during 2025. The newly formed association membership, which was established in September 2025, will now be working with us to make decisions about CABN’s future.

The Creative Arts Business Networks main aim is to develop the professional creative sector in the Scottish Borders through a diverse programme of support focusing on creative micro-businesses across all art forms, engaging and providing support to sectoral organisations and community groups, and working with a range of partners to develop further opportunities.

CABN supports primarily through its core function as a Network, providing information relevant to the creative sector through the CABN website, monthly e-bulletins and Social Media.

CABN also provides support through:

  • Advice & support – over the phone, face to face
  • Bespoke training, events & professional development programme
  • Developing opportunities – eg residencies, showcases, grant award schemes for Visual Artists and Craft Makers
  • Focus on supporting the development of creative spaces – venues and workspaces
  • Advocating for the sector locally and nationally, and raising the visibility of the sector more widely
  • Partnership working – with local and national organisations
